#bkdk NSFW-ish | Naga Baku x Mer Deku

Izuku flipped his tail impatiently, hands gripping the dock Katsuki had constructed from the fallen palms littered across the beach. The dusk had come slowly.

He had been waiting there since the afternoon—large emerald eyes searching https://twitter.com/AndlatRose/status/1329534053108822023
desperately for the familiar shimmer of his mate’s lava red tail.

They were children the first time they met. Izuku had wandered off from his pod and gotten himself beached upon the volcanic island’s shore while trying to chase a seal pup.
Katsuki had only just left his clutch and was carving out a new territory when he discovered the pitiful Merling tangled in seaweed whilst flopping uselessly in the black sand. At first the crimson scaled Naga teased him for his foolishness—cackling as he whimpered and twisted.
It was only after Izuku began to blubber did he roll his eyes and untangle him with gentle hands and a harsh glare.

Katsuki had easily thrown him back into the water and added a good scolding—“Stick to the ocean, dumb guppy!”
However, despite his intention, the little Mer became hopelessly enamored.

From then on Izuku followed him faithfully along the coast, seeking glimpses of those iridescent scales moving through the trees.
The Naga would do his best to shoo him off, but sooner or later he would find his way back to that same beach—sending clumsy songs past the winding mangroves.

Eventually he humored Izuku and came to play, if only to teach him how to move across the sand.
In return, he led Katsuki to the churning tidal pools, showing him where to find the most delicious crabs and shellfish.

Time passed, and with it those siren calls turned melodic and true.

Whenever he cried out to him, Katsuki would surely come—even if he were a bit
disgruntled when he did.

Today he was taking a bit longer than usual, though.

Izuku trilled once. After a few minutes passed, he did it again.

Then again.

Nothing.

He pouted and splashed in irritation.
Just as he was about to give up and swim away, he found that his tail wouldn’t move.

Water rushed over his head and instinctually he reached for the dock only for it to slip from his hands.

As he was pulled under he realized that his cries had attracted the attention of
something else—something much less kind, and much less willing to toss away the potential meal the Mer made.

A young orca on the hunt followed his keening tones and snagged him by the fin, turning his amorous song to bloodied wails.

The animal played with him at the outset,
throwing him up and then catching him in its toothy grip. The world spun with the colors of the sunset, blurs of grey-blue, pink, and orange.

Izuku hadn’t regretted coming there, even as that cruel jaw began to pierce him.
The only thing on his mind was Katsuki—his ruby tail; those hypnotizing scarlet eyes; that ruthless fanged grin.

Sorrowfully, he wished he could have seen him one more time.

Just as he began to whisper his name, Izuku felt the hold on him loosen.
Vision still spinning, he wrestled himself away and took off toward the beach—once a ward and now his only safe haven.

When he turned back to ensure his escape, he realized that desperate wish had been granted.

A brilliant, fearsome red stood starkly against the white and
black of the whale’s hide. Katsuki was the one being tossed in the waves now—but he was much stronger, much larger than Izuku. The Naga was wrapped completely around the beast, who moaned and breached as his claws and fangs dug deep.
Terror had surged like electricity through his veins. The pain in his tail was nothing compared to the fear he felt when watching the man he adored rise and fall beneath the foam.

With a final splash, the orca disappeared, bringing his beloved with it—
But, as he expected of him—only Katsuki returned, slinking slowly to the sand to collapse beside Izuku.

He shook violently, his body temperature dropped too low by the freezing water. Without hesitation, the young Mer wrapped himself around the Naga, using his warmth to heat his
chilled skin and scales. Hands trembling, he hurriedly rubbed up and down his back as he kissed the blue from Katsuki’s chattering jaw, whispering soft words of praise.

The Naga was grinning, but his eyes were dull with shock. Izuku rushed to bury them both in the sand,
still hot from the heat captured from the midday sun. It was much too warm for him, but he kept his body pressed to Katsuki’s regardless.

“F-fuckin’… dumb guppy. C-can’t leave you alone for a m-minute.”

Izuku laughed wetly, choking down his worry.
“I know. I’m sorry, Kacchan. I’m so sorry. Thank you.”

He buried his face in his neck and listened to his heart rate steady gradually over the next few minutes. By the time the cold was completely gone from his body, the night had begun to fall.
Evidently fed up with his inactivity, Katsuki pinned him beneath his heavy weight to keep him still. Izuku jolted, then shivered as he felt sharp fangs sink into the skin of his shoulder and neck.

Aggressively the Naga marked him, sucking the fresh bites mercilessly before
moving on to the next patch of skin. He had only ever done this a few times before, and never with such feverish abandon. Katsuki’s tail coiled and uncoiled around his own, mindful of his fins as it stroked his sensitive spots—

“K-Kacchan, are you in rut..?!”
He growled as he pulled back to glare at Izuku.

“If I was in rut I’d have dragged you off to my nest, shitty flounder.”

“That’s no good… I can’t be out of the water for too long.”

Something akin to sadness reached Katsuki’s eyes,
and with a gentle smile Izuku touched his cheek, “…so, why don’t we make a nest here? For when it’s ti—”

The words were stolen along with the air in his lungs as the Naga kissed him deeply. They stayed that way for a long while, moving against one another as the stars
brightened overhead.

Intertwining in the ash-colored sand became a nightly ritual soon after. When Katsuki’s rut eventually did come, a nest was more than ready, having been dug high on the beach—far enough that the tide could not reach, but close enough that Izuku had
no trouble slipping away to refresh his gills as his mate slept.

It was surely not last time they would have to make-due with their differences.

Split by species and home alike, their bridge was constructed from compromise—
but, the divide could only do so much to keep them apart—

as one day they would be blessed by a clutch of their own who would finally reunite the land and sea.
