Strap in kids because I'm about to go off on Behringer.
A lot of folks say they're mixed up on how to feel about Behringer, because on one hand they've brought back some out of production synths/pedals/ICs/etc, but they also rip off designs and screw over small companies.
Well, that last bit is enough for me to dislike them, but let me pick at that first bit.

Behringer didn't bring these things back. He exploited them.
Those classic synths he's "brought back". Who has he brought them back for? Not for you, he did it for himself- his sales figures. If this were just about the revival of classic synths well fuck man, just open source what you reverse engineered.
That way, your uncreative ass can sell your rip offs and smaller companies can benefit from having an open reference for breathing new life into these classic designs.
Oh and the ICs he's "brought back" like the BDD chips? Why the hell aren't the layout masks open source? It is entirely possible for other people to have these fabbed and even for improvements and such. Behringer is the reason every modern analog delay sounds the same.
Behringer isn't doing our industry any favors. He's hoarding the designs of classic gear, undercutting anyone who might dare to compete, and is rapidly spreading into every corner of music production.

Fuck him.
