OK, just finished watching Weathering With You. Initial, reaction is I absolutely love it. Visually and soundscape wise its the best I've seen and heard in an anime. It would have been great to see this in a cinema rather than at home. /1

The characters were great, including the side characters like Natsumi and Suga. Suga especially was well fleshed out and I liked that - the film did not concentrate only on Hina and Hodaka. Nagi is an absolute boss! I give it a 9.5/10 /2

Weathering With You v Your Name. First, have to mention the cameos! They were good inserts. The films get compared a lot for obvious reasons, and my current take, which may change on future viewings is that I think Y N is a better film, but I like WWY more. /3

It might seem strange to say that. YN was fantastic at telling the story, and landed the ending better as well imo. WWY had the better premise, better characters and looked better to me (YN is also stunning, so we are talking about a fine distinction here). /4

I think YN had the best "couple", but they are both good. I would've liked 10 more mins on the film and it explore fully Hodakas guilt around his decision it bring Hina back. So, another great anime film! My top 3 is now:
1. A Silent Voice
2. Weathering With You
3.Your Name.

Also, shout out to the bluray title scenes and background music. Absolutely brilliant and I have just had it playing on repeat whilst I wrote this thread. I can see me using this in the future if I want to space out at relax. Very asmr like.
