You do not get to pick up the mantle of a resistance fighter against a murderous regime when the worst that can happen to you if you speechify is being shamed into storming off the stage.

You do not get to compare yourself to Sophie Scholl when you know so little history that you even get the idea of comparing yourself to Sophie Scholl.

And you do not get to compare yourself to Sophie Scholl while speaking at a legal rally in a constitutional democracy, a rally which is protected by that that democracy under free speech even though it is a thoroughly bad idea when a pandemic is raging.

Or rather, no: you do get to do that. Because you live in a democracy that respects the right to free speech and to protest.

And you get to hear from all the people who hear you and who understand how absurdly stupid and irresponsible it is to do that.

Because you're not a resistance fighter, not one bit. You were never in any danger of being executed for what you said or did.

Because this isn't the Nazi regime. Instead, the Nazis are marching with you. That's the thing that should give you pause.
