At @mrmedina’s suggestion, here's an ongoing thread for these COVID shacks that are popping up all over NYC. What are the most impressive shacks and shanties that you have seen pop up over the last month? https://twitter.com/jameshamblin/status/1330628349937541124
@quality_eats at 78th and 2nd
Ok, going for a little walk to post some of my favs from the neighborhood. Starting out with @Mekelburgs at 325 Kent.
Classic Meks red and has some nice holiday decorations 👌🏼
12 Chairs at Wythe and S 2nd

Love the all black vibes. Really gives it a good feel in the evening. Plenty of plants and chill lighting as well. Could use a bit more cross ventilation. Maybe vent the upper parts of the plexi?
Aurora at Wythe and Grand
Bar Salia - Whythe and Grand
Cafe Mogador - Whythe and 8th-ish
Me Crocodile - Wythe and N 11th
Cheeseboard - Berry and N 9th st

This one is small but is super cozy. I love that they actually decked out the floor. It also looks like they stained all of the wood.
Ended my evening stroll with this gem. I love these little shanties and really hope we can make space for them in a post-covid future. Sure, they could use some improvements, but I’m so freaking inspired by the creativity and tenacity of the restaurants. More photos to come soon!
Follow this Insta I just created if you want to see shanties! I'll post them in both places, but figured it would be easier to follow on instagram. https://www.instagram.com/sidewalkshanties/
