how to write a character with DID, a thread!! (may be updated a lot)

DO NOT GIVE THEM A MURDER ALTER THAT IS LITERALLY SO STEREOTYPICAL AND HARMFUL THIS ALSO GOES WITH DON'T MAKE THEM VIOLENT

Don't have your character randomly get cured with DID, DID can't get cured.

Multiple Personality Disorder is an outdated term, if your character with DID says they're a system do not use the term Multiple Personality Disorder, use Dissociative Identity Disorder and this goes along with don't call headmates or alters "personalities"

Don't base headmates / alters off of emotions.

Don't make them act like they're the same person also system responsibility is a thing.

Your character must be distressed by the disorder or have trouble functioning in one or more major life areas because of the disorder.

DID isn't just alters, there's way more to it by the way. EX: childhood trauma, switches, amnesia, and etc.

Don't do unrealistic switching like what Toko and Syo do.

Learning alter roles is really important and don't glamorize DID plea
