so cause the “am i lesbian masterdoc” is painfully cis i thought i’d make a small thread of things specifically focused on trans women that may or may not help them understand if they are a lesbian or not.

(btw i’m just jotting down the thoughts i had. ur welcome to add urs)
1. you feel as if being a lesbian takes away from your womanhood.

-the comp het that trans women experience is very different to that which transmisogyny excluded ppl experience. often a greater pressure from cis society to be assumed as a woman is coupled with being het.
2. you feel as if your past relationships with men mean you cannot be a “real” lesbian so you constantly doubt if you’re truly a lesbian.

-if you’ve had relationships with men in the past does not take away from the fact that ur a lesbian.
3. encounters with transmisogynistic cis lesbians make you apprehensive about lesbianism

-kind of ties into (5) but a lack of contact with trans friendly lesbians can influence your thoughts about what lesbianism truly is.
4. internalized lesbophobia makes you think doing you doing sex work which involves men means you are not a lesbian.

-being a sex worker and doing sex work that involves men does not take away from the fact that you are a lesbian.
5. a misunderstanding about what lesbianism entails.

-there are not a whole lot of trans women who are lesbians and a lack of contact with people who experience the same thing as you do may influence your thoughts about lesbianism.
6. internalized transmisogyny (biological essentialism) & internalized lesbophobia making you believe that lesbians must have certain genitalia in order to be lesbian so you can’t truly be a lesbian.
