A thread: Diversity in hiring? How flat blackness and “diversity” lock #ADOS out...

I currently work in tech/service and have been on an interview team for the past several weeks. As #ADOS I readily look to see what demographics are getting hired and how they are rated. (1/5)
In working with recruiters, they have spent a bunch of time talking about diversity and the need to hire a “well diversified” group of candidates. The interview team consist of about 15 managers — several POC, a bunch of white and 2 ADOS. (2/5)
Last week, I conducted over 30 interviews for remote tech support jobs. Of the 30 applicants I interviewed, 3 were “Black” men — 1 Nigerian-American, 1 Haitian American and 1 ADOS. I hired all 3, as they were all well qualified. (3/5)
Zooming out, 80 candidates were ultimately hired in this round. Of those 80, 10 were “Black” — 4 were ADOS. There were about 20 POC. It was touted as a well done hiring round with “lots of diversity.” (4/5)
We are being locked out and replaced right in front of our eyes. We have got to shake this POC and flat-black nonsense. We are a unique ethnic group that deserves set-asides and protective status. They ain’t us and we ain’t them. #ADOS (5/5)
