Happy Holidays and not being offended by it shows you are a grown up or at least, you have a mature thought process, and here's why...
Christmas is a religious day for Christians. There are 7.8 BILLION people in the world. Of the 7.8 Billion people 2.168 billion are Christian GLOBALLY. That's 31.4% of the worlds population so why does the other 68.6% of the world have to follow your holiday greeting?
I mean right behind Christians is Muslim, they make up 23.2% of religious followers why not make it Happy Eid? 15.5% of people believe in nothing they think all religions are poppycock, so why should they have to say Merry Christmas, they don't believe in Christ.
I am sure the 15.2% of people that that celebrate Diwali would appreciate their traditional holiday greeting, 'May your life be as colourful, shimmering and magical as the lights of Diwali.’ And Buddhists would prefer if people celebrated Bodhi Day.
These are the top 5 beliefs in the world they account for 92 % of the Worlds religions so why is Christians greeting the one we HAVE to use?
The answer is simple. Christians don't read the bible. Well, maybe they read it but they don't understand it. Most of them still think they are following the 10 commandments, and all the bi laws....(i.e.
don't eat pork, don't be gay, don't eat shellfish) when in all reality their 10 commandments were replaced with 2 ... Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Did you see what Jesus did their he abolished every other rule in the bible and replaced them with those two, because obviously 10 were too complicated for the fragile little minds and bodies of Christians. It's like my 6th grade teacher Mr.
Petit, every year on the first day of school you go over the class rules, there was usually around 10. Keep hands feet and all other objects to yourself. No talking, no bullying etc. He replaced those 10 basics with 2 in our 6th grade year.
Do What's right was the first rule and the second was: If your not sure if it's right ask an adult.
Maturity. Our beliefs are not he only beliefs in the world! When you say Happy Holidays, you are saying I have my beliefs and you have yours and I respect the fact that our beliefs are not the same.
You are saying I realize that while we may celebrate at the same time we may not be celebrating the same thing. Don't be self centered grow up and respect other peoples beliefs you are not the center of the universe!
