a thread on the 3rd house in astrology
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đź’«" title="Symbol fĂĽr Benommenheit" aria-label="Emoji: Symbol fĂĽr Benommenheit">: it& #39;s been so exciting reading the natal charts for multiple people whose either recent trajectories or life stories involve labor organizing or uplifting workers& #39; rights
so much of what I& #39;ve seen with these ppl centers around the 3rd house, incl. stelliums/the nodes/Saturn! The 3rd house used to be an elusive house to me, traditionally meaning one& #39;s neighborhood, siblings, transportation, communication
I& #39;ve now come to a slightly different understanding, thinking of it as community and friendship that function a little differently than 11th house relating, the traditional house of friendship and groups
the 3rd house is a cadent house, meaning it acts as a bridge and unsettles notions about the self. It dissolves what has been set up to incorporate new concepts
if the 1st house is the self, the worldview, how one moves into a space and develops their identity, and the 4th house is the home, the family, the private self, then the 3rd house is a bridge between the self and the home.
Thus the idea of neighborhood and siblings and transportation as the traditional buzzwords of the 3rd house. The home and what grounds us is not just made up of ourselves but who we build with and create security with
The 11th house is succedent house, which means it consolidates and builds on what the 10th house establishes. If the 10th house is one& #39;s social legacy, visibility, "career" and public image,
then the 11th house has a slightly different function than the 3rd house, which is to consolidate, build on, and support your public work. The 11th house community may be directed towards an "industry", groups, trade associations, and a network
These relationships are still crucial for solidarity, but maybe not in the specifically intimate way that the third house is involved in.
The 3rd house brings up what relationships are you working on and with to build a home and security together. For some that exists in a biological family framework, but for others that is the fellow worker and comrades.
For some it is their neighborhood, the other tenants in the building, and being a historian to a specific space and time and the struggles it has known and held.
and here also to not forget that the concept of a neighborhood is always racial/class-based. An emphasis on the 3rd house brings up "what neighborhood are you a part of and what stories of it are you holding?"
The 3rd house asks, "What relationships help you challenge an insistence on your own worldview as what you are and what you possess while also building and contributing to it (the 3rd house is sextile the 1st)?"
The fact that the 3rd house can also visibly see and interact with the 12th and the 6th house, which are hidden houses of the chart that can denote illness, disability, labor, incarceration, marginalization -
the 3rd house is one avenue of many in which to understand mobilization and community building that makes space for personal difficulty and an understanding of marginalization and oppression.
a note: there& #39;s much more than just the third house that is involved in one& #39;s own personal relationship to labor organizing! also i& #39;m using somewhat reductive definitions for the 4th/10th house as diametric places, when they are intricately connected for many people!
what& #39;s your relationship to your 3rd house in your chart?
