Couldn’t make it to our event with Raghav Chandra? We got your back! In addition to the recording that is up on our YouTube channel, here’s a thread of some key learnings from all the insight Raghav shared with us 👇
1. About 2 years after graduating from @UCBerkeley, Raghav moved back to India. He believed in India’s potential— there’s so much left unexplored, so much to do! It’s the journey to get there that makes this so attractive for him.
2. As he rightfully said,” you have the opportunity to create from scratch.” As a 23-year-old looking to put his tech skills to use, India was a nearly blank canvas. Incredibly exciting!
3. He very interestingly pointed out how India skipped the “desktop era” and that now, pretty much everyone has a data pack!
4. Him and his co-founders wanted to solve a problem that affected so many people. Understand the intricacies of the problem you want to solve, only then will you be able to come up with the “right” answer.
5. On new-age entrepreneurs: the focus is on adding value. Wealth is important no doubt but it’s the value that you add that takes you places.
6. He believes it’s most important to learn how to ask questions and to continue asking them once you begin. It’ll get you far in both your educational and professional career. Ask a LOT of questions.
7. Raghav stressed the need to find the people who will actually pay for your product— that’s the most unfiltered feedback. No one will criticize your idea but odds are they won’t always pay for it. Look for the ones that pay and understand why.
8. Self-explanatory isn’t it? Take risks, do big things, take more risks, and top the biggest thing you've done till now.
9. Their focus with Urban Company has always been to upgrade the quality of services and in doing so, upending the existing feudal system.
10. He rightly expressed how people have shifted their focus from “roti, kappa, makan” to “employment, education, and healthcare.” Making progress is fluid in definition but we think this shift is a good indicator of the future.
