Just watched a long @ReliableSources segment on the links btwn covid denial and election denial, and what it says about the Republican Party. It was generally good, but *none* of the 4 panelists connected it to the GOP’s climate denial. Huge missed opportunity imo. @brianstelter
It’s very worrying that our best political and media reporters/analysts are still apparently blind to the importance of climate and fossil fuel politics, and how those politics drives and connects to so many of our most pressing crises (the planetary one included)
So much of the money that supports the modern GOP — the party of climate denial, covid denial, and election denial — stems from the fossil fuel industry, the same industry which pioneered denial as a political tactic to maintain power and profit at the expense of the vulnerable.
You cannot have a fully informed convo about covid denial and election denial without talking about climate denial. I hope @brianstelter takes this into consideration in his future reporting on GOP disinformation campaigns.
I also hope his network stops profiting from fossil fuel industry propaganda, but that’s another story.
