I’ve been a little more retrospective on here this week after I learned of what Dr. Souza shares. My is so heavy for our physician leaders who might have this grim task, but it’s one YOU can absolutely PREVENT from happening based on choices YOU & YOUR FAMILY make this week:

...”The other possibility is that our surge planning also becomes overwhelmed, and the Governor needs to declare crisis standards. This would mean that we have to make terrible decisions on which patients get access to certain types of care, like ICU care....”

...”We will always provide care, but the full spectrum of care will not be available to everyone if we are resource-constrained. I am profoundly saddened, especially as I prepare to do my orientation next week to serve on the committee that will govern the appeals from families.”

But YOU can STOP this from happening! “This is something we have never done in healthcare in this country. And it is entirely preventable... follow prevention steps, model them for others & plan a safe Thanksgiving by not gathering with others outside their immediate household.”
