Streamer Things
====
Y& #39;all listen. Listen to me. Eye contact.

I know you saw that really cool thing that someone with this massive viewerbase did and you& #39;re like "if I had THAT THING, then I could break through and have that viewership!" /1
No. That& #39;s not how it works. The path to large viewerships is varied and there isn& #39;t one way to do it, but I can absolutely tell you that the way you get there has nothing to do with alerts, layouts, high quality cameras, proper lighting, etc.

Nothing at all. /2
I went to affiliate playing FFXI with no camera whatsoever. I& #39;ll quote @/pleasantlytwstd here and use a megaphone for good measure.

WORK. ON. YOUR. CONTENT.

That& #39;s it. Work on being a person people want to watch. Have a space people enjoy being in. You can "decorate" later. /3
And while we& #39;re here? Your strategy should scale with size.

Let me repeat: your strategy should scale with size.

Copying and pasting the things that someone does just because they have a large viewerbase isn& #39;t helpful. At all. /4
There& #39;s a lot to learn from those larger streamers, but copying and pasting without thinking critically about what you& #39;re trying to apply and whether or not that vibes with you and your audience is just asking to be frustrated and exhausted for no reason.

That& #39;s not the move. /5
Do you and work on doing you better. You and no one else. Period.

And that applies outside of streaming.

TL;DR: work on your content, reflect often, and act on what you learn as often as possible. /https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🌻" title="Sonnenblume" aria-label="Emoji: Sonnenblume">
