So, I& #39;ve been doing a lot of work on quarterback processing speed lately. Took as detailed a look as I could at Taysom Hill based on limited activity as a pure passer, and... whoo boy.
The short version: I have no idea what he& #39;s seeing and not seeing. The randomness of his game as a passer is kind of unnerving. Feels like I& #39;m watching a guy play a somewhat different sport, and not in a good way.

Back foot to reads to ball positioning is all over the place.
And from week to week, he& #39;ll get a open read late or not see it at all. Either a missed opportunity, or a late throw and catch that could have been more. He& #39;s obviously an athlete with a plus arm. but I don& #39;t see much that separates him from, like, DeShone Kizer as a passer.
I guess what concerns me about Hill is that after some serious time in the NFL and with a passer-friendly system, there doesn& #39;t seem to be a lot of retention. Meaning, he gets a concept drilled in one week, and you can see the progress the next. I don& #39;t get that with him.
Hill is obviously impressing in the meeting rooms and in getting the hang of the playbook or Payton wouldn& #39;t put him out there. But on the field, the lack of a cogent set of standards you can assemble? I dunno.
I mean, he& #39;s playing against the Falcons, so there& #39;s every chance he& #39;ll throw for 220 and two touchdowns and run for 150 and two more touchdowns, but... I don& #39;t see it.
