It’s going to get increasingly hard for a global asset managers to navigate the web of ESG regs. The EU is way ahead but the UK has its own plan, HK has also proposed new rules, and under Biden the US will likely join the party.
Like, if your a UK asset manager with UCITS funds, you’re likely to have two different ESG taxonomies to have to follow
The biggest issue with the Asset Management ESG regs is that they are mostly being approached back to front. Meaning they focus on managers’ disclosures and ESG process before focusing on improving companies’ ESG disclosures
Also, if we’re being honest, the ESG Reg focus is really Esg (ENVIRONMENTAL, social, governance)
