When it comes to anti black racism...listen to the black community, Islamophobia...listen to the Muslim community, homophobia...listen to the LGBTQ community, anti semitism...listen to the Jewish community. Put your allegiance to your party or ideology aside and just listen.
What are you scared of? Do you honestly think a whole race of people or a whole community are conspiring to get one over on you? If that’s what you think then the problem is you and you definitely need to shut up, stop lecturing these communities and listen some more.
And, when asked to listen to disenfranchised communities, some reply “ they aren’t homogeneous, how patronising”as if a request to listen is a claim that they are. But you know what’s pretty homogeneous in its nature? Systemic racial bias. Because it’s everywhere, in all of us.
So those who resist the call to listen by claiming that it’s patronising to minorities & paints them as homogenous are really uncomfortable with their own and perhaps their political ideology’s systemic bias. It’s much easier to see it in others than to see it in yourself.
