Okay I admit the more I think about it, the less and less I like Raya and the Last Dragon from the trailer and everything I'm hearing about it especially with the story.

Why - CAUSE IT'S JUST MOANA AGAIN. Literally, it's just nothing but a carbon copy of Moana.
I mean COME ON DISNEY, COME ON GUYS - you're literally now recycling and repackaging your own recent films.... and this is all from one trailer and the info we have. I don't care if it's an Asian setting, it's literally the EXACT SAME THING, EXACT SAME SET-UP.
Everything about it gives me nothing - not any excitement or curiosity in the slightest and the funny thing is on the ''letdown meter'', Ralph Breaks The Internet is much worse.
But it's the same issue with the live action remakes, their live action films in general, Star Wars, the recent MCU movies - by the fact that so many YEARS have gone by since this Disney Revival era kicked off with The Princess and the Frog...
...and just NOTHING has changed, they are giving us the exact same bullshit just in animated form and obviously it keeps getting worse.
I'm clearly getting more upset the more I'm writing this - the thing is all the other stuff Disney's been doing like the remakes, their Star Wars movies etc have gotten the hate they warrant and deserve. But where's the hate for their recent animated work.
If you ask me, I think they're only happy to have anything that's Disney animated. I don't know, isn't there ANYTHING ELSE in animation right now that you can genuinely love and appreciate. Like what is Raya and the Last Dragon gonna give you.
What is a carbon copy of an earlier but still recent movie made by the same people gonna give you that's of any substance. It's not even anything on a grand scale, this is just the exact same scale as the other Revival films.
What is it doing that you're like ''Yeah, I can't wait to see that'' or ''Yeah, I'm glad I saw that. That gave me something the other Disney films didn't'' when it's clear as day that it's the exact same fucking thing -
- only this time she has a giant armadillo type thing as her wacky animal sidekick.... WHAT IS THAT ADDING?

I'm not really trying to say anyone who sees this movie is stupid, I just don't see anything with it.
Is there anything cool and distinct that I'm missing.
I just can't believe how boring, bland and uninteresting modern Disney and their filmmakers has made animation in film, they've just made it so pandering and bland.
But you know the little more I think about it - maybe that's a good thing.
Cause now with Disney not bothering to try anymore and learning all the wrong lessons, we can look to others. Get excited for the passionate projects they're putting out now.
If you want the best example to prove it, look to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The problem with Disney is greatness, goodness and even decency have become the once-in-a-while exception over there.
