i don't hand out art advice very often b/c tbh the older i get the less i feel like i have crucial pronouncements to make and i also have less need to like frantically state rules for others that make me feel more certain about what i'm doing
that said, I see a lot of people, particularly younger artists, fret about art styles and what is and isn't hip at the moment, and yeah client work is client work and social media rewards very specific aesthetics and subject matter, so do what you need to do, but beyond that-
the hipness and perceived value of different aesthetics come and go and come back again alarmingly often and the more you ignore the winds and just focus on what you like and what works for you, the better off you'll be in some years time.
and tbh you are not going to do your most interesting and satisfying work without spending time working in what style and techniques you end up clicking best with and the length of that time will be longer than whatever current fashions and moods are.
anyway. fret less about it.
