Spent the last hour bingeing #retailmademe stories about all the fucked up shit various retailers make their workers do to destroy perfectly useable things. Please, if you work in retail, sneak out every doomed thing yr gay hands can carry, these places dgaf about you or anyone
I've mentioned it before but in 2014 I had to sneak dumpster-bound "expired" food home w/me by the backpackful bc the job wanting me to dumpster-lock said food wouldn't pay enough for me to buy enough groceries to keep the household fed but would've fired me if it caught me

I hope every liberal who cried abt that Surveillance Target that got knocked over in June knows Target throws out perfectly good produce by the cartload every night and slashes out of season clothes to ribbons so no one who needs it can use it. Still sad abt the lost profits?

Or let's talk about how Walmart forces its employees to dump out entire $30+ cans of baby formula if they're dented and pour bleach on produce that's set to expire in two days, but y'all were so upset when people who've starved for months went in to grab some off the shelves.
Honestly looting is the humane option by comparison because otherwise all that sustenance is just going in the fucking garbage. Maybe to have glass smashed over it (Whole Foods) or windex sprayed on it (Kroger) or be just plain locked up to rot (SO MANY)
For that matter, don't ever return food to a store, even if you get it by mistake or you ordered the wrong thing or whatever, because if you return it, guess what they're gonna do? YUP
Returning clothes? Did you wear it? No one ever will again if you hand it back to the cashier now.
Not even raw materials are safe, because if JoAnn's can't sell a remnant in a certain amount of time, they shred that mf down to unusable.

May every "personal responsibility" ass pseudo-environmentalist who ever came after a disabled person for needing a straw instead be sicced on these companies that actually cause waste by forcing employees to destroy merch on pain of unemployment, forever and ever, amen.
