Kicking things off with the album title song,
Raah- E-Fakira!
"Feels like all you guys are in a studio with us, listening in!" : @swarathma, We're happy to be here ^-^
. @jishnuzz and @dixitvasu speaking on behalf of swarathma tell us the conception of the song happened at one of those unforgettable jam sessions!
As they say, Inspiration strikes at the Goa airport because of a delayed flight...well if not for everyone, certainly for @dixitvasu and so the song 'Manwa' was born!
"The more you allow a song to occupy your mind, the more difficult it will be to germinate" @dixitvasu on why his best songs are written while he is travelling ✈️
This is also probably why all his voice notes of impromptu songs have people yelling at the back- we think it should make it onto the next album, what say @swarathma ?
But for now, no random passerby's in the backing track. We're listening to 'Manwa'!
@jishnuzz says that the song 'Manwa' and in fact the whole album, is something that the band needed.
. @dixitvasu says that people often view the band as one entity, and forget that there are 5 people and 5 beating hearts and the song 'Aasman Ki Dukaan' reflects that!
Music makes people feel many things, love, sadness, happiness...what about hunger? @jishnuzz 's spontaneous strumming got his picky-eater son to lick the plate clean. Howzzat for melodious miracles?
Any desperate parents please immediately play @swarathma 's music for soul and stomach fulfillment
Alright friends, we're going back to 2008 to follow the story of the song 'Jangama'
It was at the finals of a radio city, and lo and behold the band playing was @indianoceanband where they met @amitkilam for the first time!
. @dixitvasu suggested long back that they collaborate with @amitkilam because they were floored by his vocals. @jishnuzz calls him a holistic musician (among many nicer words) and we can't help agree as we listen to 'Sangat ki Rangat'
"Kaunse tel mein doobi diye ki baati,
na poochho Haathon ko thaamo haathon ki jaati na poochho" are @jishnuzz 's favourite lyrics from this song. We can't choose, we love every line and @amitkilam's incredible delivery
One person's trash is another person's treasure! and so the song Kaash came about after being passed over as an ad jingle. A loss for Indian televisions but a gain for music lovers everywhere!
"Kaash is a song about making peace with regret. Living with it as an ally....well at least not an adversary" says @jishnuzz about the song 'kaash'. Well we certainly have no regrets being here tonight ☺️
A, B, C, D! minor scale is a favourite of @swarathma 's applied to their song 'Beta Sweater Pehno' inspired by that mentos ad. It goes "Thum, thuM thuM" (this is our closest approximation) and is all about childhood and school life gone by!
. @swarathma's very own multi-talented @dixitvasu directed the music video for the song which was shot at Lions school, Mysore! any alumni in the audience?
And now onto the next one. We're listening to 'Mazloom', a song that attempts to understand the difficulties of transgender persons. @jishnuzz says society conditions us to treat them a certain way, forgetting that they are human too.
. @dynasly drops by 'The Scene' as we listen to the meaningful song Mazloom!
. @jishnuzz says that Raah-E-Fakira was the first album where they looked within themselves for it's production. The right end we hope?
But in all seriousness, @dynasly says it's a landmark moment for the band for having self produced the album, where time isn't money and they had the luxury to track each song as long as they wanted to.
"We've been around a while, but we always feel like we're on our way to making it" says @jishnuzz about their journey and fame so far!
. @dixitvasu says he and the band would love to take the credit for discovering the hidden talent of @jishnuzz as their manager, or as he put it their 'damager' 👀
The next song is about band members just being regular folks, and things aren't as hunky dory as they may seem- they've all gone through things, pandemic included. We're listening to the last song of the album 'Jangama'
"The dreams you see would be poems if you wrote them" a translation of the lyrics of 'Jangama'. brb on the floor weeping 😥
