10 years ago Kanye dropped MBDTF.

A short thread of trivia to celebrate the anniversary.
Most of the project was recorded in Hawai'i using 3 different studios in the same building. Recording & production was said to be happening on a 24 hour basis with artists hopping from room to room.
It was rumored that one of Kanye's earliest visions of the album was to record 10 tracks, each 10 minutes titled Donda's Boy.

At Kanye's request DJ Premier & Madlib, among other producers, turned in beats for the project. Neither of their beats ended up on the album.

CyHi was initially only supposed to do the hook on So Appalled. Kanye fell asleep during the recording session, so CyHi recorded a verse, which Kanye agreed to keep on the final version.
The meeting where Kanye requested all Def Jam employees in attendance to wear a suit was to listen to the final version of MBDTF.
Artists including Pete Rock, Q-Tip, & Madlib were present during small periods of the album's recording. They did not make contributions to the project. Kanye said he wanted their presence & creative energy in the studio.
Kanye was inspired by Michael Jackson's Thriller to create the 35 minute short film for Runaway.
Big name "additional vocalists" not listed as featured artists include Elton John, Charlie Wilson, Alicia Keys, Drake and Teyanna Taylor. Most appear on All of the Lights.
The project was initially titled Good Ass Job. The same title was given to the unfinished, dormant Kanye & Chance the Rapper collaborative project.
