Areas with large tourism sectors shifted toward Biden this year. Many of these localities have been devastated by the impact of COVID.

I'll take a look at some of these counties in the thread below! Much of my focus will be on Great Lakes area!
Bayfield County, WI: Clinton +8.7% -> Biden +14.1% (5.4% shift)

This county is home to the Apostle Islands Natl Lakeshore as well as the Red Cliff Tribal Nation. In the City of Bayfield itself (pop. 700), Trump actually lost votes from 16->20 despite turnout being up.
Door County, WI (FLIP): Trump 3.2% -> Biden +1.4% (5.6% shift)

Door extends north from Green Bay into Lake Michigan and is dotted with wineries and rocky coastline. It's also home to many state parks and its seat, Sturgeon Bay, is still a major shipbuilding hub.
Marquette County, MI: Clinton +4.3% -> Biden +10.1% (5.8% shift)

Marquette is a large city in terms of the UP, with a pop. over 20,000 and a sizable state university. The area gets hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and is the largest county in Michigan on Lake Superior.
Leelanau County, MI (FLIP): Trump +3.2% -> Biden +5.2% (8% shift)

Leelanau is home to Sleeping Bear Dunes Natl Lakeshore on Lake Michigan, one of the most visited parks in all of Michigan.
Grand Traverse County, MI: Trump +12.6% -> Trump +3 (9.6% shift)

Just south of Leelanau is Traverse Bay where Trump took a blow. The county has many wineries, cherry and berry farms. Dems have good long-term prospects in this whole area. Voted for marijuana legislation in 2018.
Charlevoix County, MI: Trump +24.2% -> Trump +17.1% (7.1% shift)

A bit north is Charlevoix, with three lakeside/bayside towns and Beaver Island.
Emmet County, MI: Trump +19.4% -> Trump +11.1% (8.3% shift)

Right north is Emmet, where Trump again had his 2016 margins take a dent. The county seat is the coastal, tourism town of Petoskey.
Keweenaw County, MI: Trump +20.1% -> Trump +12.2% (7.9% shift)

At the very top of Michigan is Keweenaw with a population of just 2,100. Also home to Isle Royale National Park.
Ottawa County, MI: Trump +30.4% -> Trump +21.4 (9% shift)

This is a combination of Grand Haven and the largely suburban, religious and well-educated population around Holland, Zeeland and close to Grand Rapids.
Teton County, WY: Clinton + 27.9% -> Biden +37.5% (9.6% shift)

Dems are (probably) close to maxing out here, but the home county to the largest share of Yellowstone, drifted even more toward Democrats this year.
Teton County, ID (FLIP): Trump +2.1% -> Biden +7.3% (9.4% shift)

Right next door is Teton, in Idaho. This shift is quite large and Teton is culturally connected to Jackson, WY next door as well as Yellowstone. It should stay light blue.
Park County, MT: Trump +14.8% -> Biden +6.5% (8.3% shift)

Park also borders Yellowstone and shifted against Trump by twice the statewide shift in Montana.
Butte Co, CA (FLIP): Trump +4 -> Biden +2
Humboldt Co, CA: Clinton +26->Biden +34
Mendocino Co, CA: Clinton +29 -> Biden +48
Lake Co, CA: Clinton +4 -> Biden +27
Nevada Co, CA: Clinton +4 -> Biden +15
Alpine Co, CA: Clinton +19 -> Biden +32

Lumping together "Northern California"
Grand County, UT: Trump +0.0% -> Biden +10.7% (10.7% shift)

Home of Arches National Park and the city of Moab in Eastern Utah.
Knox Co, TN: Trump +23.9 -> Trump +15.2 (7.2% shift)
Sevier Co, TN: Trump +61.7 -> Trump +57.4% (4.3% shift)

In the Smoky Mountains and home to the University of Tennessee.
Hope you enjoyed this thread! There's obliviously many more examples (especially in the Northeast!) of these types of counties going against Trump compared to 2016.
