NO. DO NOT CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING WITH OTHER HOUSEHOLDS.

It's like this person wrote a guide for how NOT to quarantine (1 week?! They *might* do testing?):

"We pulled our kids out of the learning pod a week before the holiday. We’re looking into getting tested before we go" https://twitter.com/fmanjoo/status/1329781116169973766
COVID has up to a 2-week incubation period.

To contrast with this thoroughly unscientific plan, here's the quarantine process if you visit South Korea (based on what colleagues described to me):
You arrive.
They do temperature and symptom checks.

You/your accompanying fam go to a testing facility where you get COVID test #1 and you wait in designated areas until the test results are back.

If negative, you can govt-quarantine, or self-quarantine (if you're a citizen).
If you self-quarantine, you must install an app that tracks your location so that you can show that you go directly to & don't leave your self-quarantine location.
For all quarantines, you CANNOT LEAVE FOR 2 WEEKS.
NO OUTSIDE FAMILY, NO OTHER FRIENDS CAN BE AT YOUR LOCATION.
You also log your temperature every day with the app.
You can't go to stores.
You can't go outside.
You get food dropped off. No contact.

YOU GET A SECOND TEST after two weeks.
If you all pass, THEN...you're allowed to join the general population.
If your phone doesn't move enough, the authorities may check on you, to make sure you're not cheating.
(I don't recall what happens if you cheat. I know they fine people. Maybe they deport non-citizens.)
BTW this is this person's "plan":

1 week no school pod +
*maybe* they get tested +
a drive with bathroom breaks to possibly undo it all

Fuck.

At least he's getting ratio'd. But still, 2K likes? Fuck.
It's also worth noting that he's placing unfounded trust in the people in his bubble (they *said* they're being safe).

We all have massively different ideas of what's safe, and/or people may cheat. Read this thread: https://twitter.com/Bookgirl96/status/1328821328225382401
