This is the problem right here. People keep looking at Lonzo Ball as a finished product, when he just had his first healthy offseason since the summer of 2016 (after high school).

This also feeds into the whole “point guards only drive” narrative which is inherently false. https://twitter.com/Ben_Pfeifer_/status/1330351283916529665
Steph Curry has only averaged more than 9 drives per game once in his career. He averaged 9.2 in 2013-2014. The fact of the matter is, if Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram are who we think they are, Lonzo Ball won’t operate as a traditional point guard anyway.
The Lonzo Ball haters are just as hung up on positional designations as Lonzo Ball stans. In today’s era of position-less basketball you need to have multiple initiators on the court. The Pelicans could possibly have 4 next year who all initiate in different ways.
Some of the same people who have been hating Lonzo have been super excited about Kira Lewis who actually shot a lower percentage (under 50%) in the half court at the rim in college than Lonzo Ball did in the NBA and only shot 35.2% from floater range.
Also Kira Lewis wasn’t much of a creator for others while having high turnovers. Ironically, he showed tremendous off-ball ability shooting nearly 37% on catch and shoot shots. Being that he is undersized, I guess he can’t be a wing. 🤷🏾‍♂️
Lonzo Ball is literally the only player they put this much energy into picking apart. All of this while having a team full of players who haven’t met their potential yet.
