I know some people that identify as latinx or latine (and some variations) but I don& #39;t think until today I& #39;ve ever seen anyone refer to these as slurs??

I know it& #39;s not widely used outside US so is this an argument about colonizing language or is this just "anti-woke" reaction?
I& #39;m not Latino (as many people in the US like to mistake my name, it& #39;s Portuguese, so plz don& #39;t ask my opinion on this) but I have friends/family in Brasil, Chile, and other places where the consensus was pretty much "I don& #39;t use it but if someone identified as that then yeah"
Also a few people confused about the idea but seemingly understanding that the terms available are confusing if someone doesn& #39;t identify as either gender, but nobody was like "that& #39;s a slur"
To me a lot of these arguments seem similar to ones I see in the US of people being very against using other pronouns or singular they (even with historical usage) but for other languages (and cultures) I have much less visibility there obv on if this is the same as that :/
(Being that I& #39;m a white American though, I feel like there& #39;s a layer of "this is some colonizer bullshit" that I might be missing)
