I just realized something. Apparently people in the hq fandom think that Kageyama is a b*lly or a mean boy because of how he teases Hinata. But let's be honest, if Kageyama was as open with his feelings as Hinata is, if he communicated his deepest thoughts like -
- Hinata does, would those persons still think Kageyama is a b*lly? Or would they think he's just teasing?
You see, there's that major difference between Kageyama and Hinata and it's communication. You know of Hinata's thoughts and feelings the moment he has them -
You see, there's that major difference between Kageyama and Hinata and it's communication. You know of Hinata's thoughts and feelings the moment he has them -
- and he shares them to everyone. He even tends to overshare (like who the hell sings about going to the toilet?). He's a literal sunshine-y, happy boy who makes friends with literally everyone he meets when he meets them. It's hard to dislike him.
So when he teases Kageyama, -
So when he teases Kageyama, -
- says stuff like "That's why you have no friends" or calls him "Tiredyama", there's no doubt in our mind: he's joking, he's teasing his friend.
But when Kageyama does it? It can come off quite differently (which I understand). But why?
Well, Kageyama doesn't know -
But when Kageyama does it? It can come off quite differently (which I understand). But why?
Well, Kageyama doesn't know -
- how to express his feelings, for one. He rarely communicates. He's closed off, unreadable, he rarely smiles. He's got trouble complimenting anyone or even asking his teammates how they want him to set the ball for them (remember the first match against Seijoh -
- and how it was hard for him to adjust to his teammates' needs on the court). While Hinata is an open book, Kageyama is a locked chest to which the key seems lost. He's awkward with people and even when he encourages Hinata, it may sound like he's insulting him. -
- So when he teases Hinata in the way Hinata teases him, it comes across as b*llying.
Kageyama and Hinata are polar opposites in their behavior, personalities and relations to other people. So of course your perception of their actions will change. Of course "stupid" -

- when it comes to Hinata might not sound the same as when Kageyama says it. But there's something people need to remember: Hinata knows how to communicate and has no filter. So if there's a thing he didn't like about Kageyama or the way Tobio treats him, he'd tell him (which -
- I believe he does, at some point). Or even "better", he'd ignore him as he tells Karasuno when Kageyama's bad habits start kicking in again. "Who cares if he's a king. If I don't like it, I'll just ignore him."
Hinata knows how to fend for himself, especially when it comes -
Hinata knows how to fend for himself, especially when it comes -
- to Tobio, someone who's "not only [his] friend, but also a partner". He's not that defenseless.
And Kageyama? He may not know how to deal with people in the nicest way but he always means well and he deeply cares about Hinata. Why would he spend so much time practicing -

- Kageyama and Hinata are literally the Ying and Yang: two polar opposites with a little bit of the other inside and that complete each other to create a perfect and reliable duo. They see each other as equals. Furudate tells us to see them as equals. They wrote -
- it down in so many ways. I cannot change your perception of Kageyama (and/or Hinata for that matters) but everything is clearly in the text and that's why I'll just ask you to trust them both, trust their bond and trust the text.
