You know, I've been thinking over the cries for decent white people to get/organize/influence their right-wing white brethren, and I think I've come to the conclusion that it partakes of the same fantasy that white liberal calls to "educate" racists does,

the fantasy that if you just talk to or educate or relate to right-wing whites the right way, they'll see the error of their ways and the obvious superiority of anti-racism/anti-fascism. But I don't think that's true, and I'm not aware of any evidence that is true,

at least not in meaningful numbers. There is literally nothing a right-winger or a racist could say to me to make me budge an inch to the right, and I'm not sure why anybody would assume the same isn't true on the other side.

Especially at this point, cult deprogramming is actually an area someone needs expertise in. I'm not saying it can never work--maybe you did convince your second cousin that Trump was a scumbag liar! good for you! But I am saying that it's not a viable large-scale strategy,

and it's not something you can realistically expect of nonspecialists in general. I don't think we need to educate Trump voters, or convince them, or gather them, or organize them. I think we need to beat them. And that's a scary thought, because I don't know if we will.

But the whatever % of white women who voted for Trump (I've seen 55%, but that was an exit poll on election day during an election when we know there were more mail-in ballots than ever before, and those mail-in ballots are more likely to be anti-Trump, so who knows, and it

doesn't really matter what the number is, I'm certain it was a significant one)? They're not available to be brought on board. They're enemies. And I don't come from a proselytizing religion. I don't think you preach to enemies. I think you beat them.

You may at this point be wondering how. Me too. I haven't a clue. I suppose I would ask the historians and sociologists for advice.
