I received unsolicited tenure "advice" from a sr. scholar. 1)My outspoken personality turns colleagues off. 2)Supporting BLM is risky. 3)Don't go around telling people "I'm not worried bout tenure" (I'm not, I work my butt off). 4)Don't give anyone a reason to vote against you.

PS. I took this as BAD advice from 1 scholar. Yes, it was upsetting. But, I need 2 believe that academe is changing 4 the better&that these POVs are slowly being pushed out. In the end, I CHOOSE 2 model a different approach for up&coming scholars. Show up authentically if u want.
