I said this at the beginning of the pandemic and I'm gonna say it again:

I understand the needs of my Ss. I also believe in Science. I am a Black woman with Black children. We are more likely to die from Covid. (1)
The district where I live gave an option. My kid is doing distance learning.

The district where I work has a high number of cases. Too high to return. We have a large population of Black & Brown Ss. (2)
I am not ok w/these tweets about the numbers of Black & Brown families who want their kids back in schl.

We are not going to pretend that simply sending kids back will solve anything; it will not. (3)
I tweet damn near everyday (pre-Covid) about the sh*t happening in SpEd but ppl really became concerned when schools were closed.

Let's be real: Schls need to open so ppl can go back to work. Mostly the Black & Brown ppl. (4)
Schls need to open so the privileged don't have to help their kids 6+ hours/day.

Now you all understand what we actually do in a schl year. (5)
You may have 1-3 kids; we have 10+.

I'm not risking my life to appease privileged folks' demands.

(6)
And some of the folks complaining likely voted for that turd, both times.

It's on you.

(7)
Teachers get on this app & crowdfund/beg for classroom supplies (including wipes & sanitizer) every damn year, but ppl want us back in poorly ventilated & shittily cleaned classrooms, without PPE and social distancing.

(8)
I'm not going out from Covid. All the hereditary sh*t I've avoided? Tuh.
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.

You know where to go & what to do on the way there.

✌🏾
And yes; I'm still pissed about the tweets I saw of a parent demanding someone come into their home to serve their kid.

Like I didnt raise & teach my kids while working full-time (teacher other people's kid) & finishing 2 grad degrees.

Tuh.
