i guess firstly the themes surrounding them both contrast but parallel each other so neatly. tsuki is a hardened war veteran grown bitter from all hes witnessed. then theres koito, a fledgling so enamoured by the fantasy of fighting with his comrades in war and dying with them.
to tsuki, koito is the only ray of hope, whose spirit still hasn& #39;t been dimmed from those sad realities of war. whilst to koito, tsuki is someone he admires as the one who fought beside tsurumi in the war. he admires his skills, always looks to him for assistance, depends on him.
also i really do think they both look out for and lift each other up well!! they& #39;re both people who would give up their lives fighting, yet EVERY TIME ones in danger, the other will instinctively extend a hand to help them. they& #39;re each others guardian angels in a way.
and I think the imperfection of their relationship is really charming on its own! they& #39;re both suffering, both have come to realise that they& #39;ve been wronged by the same person, and as a result really do cling onto each other as a way of mutual coping.
of course this is just the overwhelming amount of subtext. a guess a more simple reason is that I just think they& #39;re fun! I& #39;m always a sucker for pairs that stick the broody one with the loud and excitable one. plus tsukishima acting as koito& #39;s personal translator is very cute.
I guess tl;dr is that, essentially I just think they& #39;re neat =)
