Wrote up a quick thing on my thoughts about Diego Alonso and Inter Miami.

I’ve decided to make it a thread so read below:
I have a lot to say about Alonso and how Inter managed to get a manager. First off, their first choice was DEFINITELY Marcelo Gallardo from River Plate. An Argentinian guy who has an attractive play style.
With that in mind, Carranza and Pellegrini are the first two players signed. That wasn’t a coincidence. Then you start to build this roster up without announcing anyone because you’re waiting for Gallardo to finish CCL at the time.
However, players continued to keep getting signed to play in South Florida. Then there are no talks between the two sides after some time, and Miami has to scramble to find a manager. Alonso comes, brings in Pizarro, but it was too late.
For Alonso to have shied away from a 4-2-3-1 this season on MANY occasions shows he was reluctant to play this side the way he wanted. That’s all he played when he and Pizarro were winning CCL’s.
This roster had talent, and somehow, it failed to show on the pitch. Alonso is a winner, a PROVEN winner. He got the job done in Liga MX; he can do it here. But going into 2021, they need to back him fully and get him guys that he wants.
With a full season under his belt, a better understanding of the MLS game is now added to his tactical arsenal. McDonough and Alonso are likely gonna change some things here shortly. I just wish I knew what the player contracts were like to see who’s becoming a free agent, etc.
The point is, I support Alonso. The guy was just thrown in here unfairly. He’s got passion and hunger, and as I said, he’s a proven winner. Give me 2021 with him as coach after an offseason of roster moves to his liking, and this team will be back in the playoffs, no doubt.
End of thread.
