Disabled musicians to support instead of Sia. Also, who the fuck is Sia? No, don't tell me b/c I really do not care. I care about these disabled musicians. A thread.
Collander's songs:

1. grim bitch/sick shit
2. prescribe me your body
3. medicalize me
4. able in the sunshine
5. lorazapam hands
6. cows on an open meadow, drinking from a mobile water supply waggon and walking on muddy ground
Which one is my favorite? All of them. Any of them. I started with "medicalize me" & was addicted to that song & played it on repeat: "They didn't teach you it in medical school so you get to learn for free." https://soundcloud.com/collander/medicalize-me
"I don't have any blood left for you. I don't have any blood left for you. I don't have any blood left for you. I don't have any blood left for you." @RollingStone get over here. https://soundcloud.com/collander/blood-left
"Hey there. I don't know if you're my psychiatrist my neurologist or just some random medical worker who likes to probe things but I'm here to thank you and to tell you how you make me so fucking sick. / And now the patient / Am I quiet enough for you?" https://soundcloud.com/collander/quiet-enough-4-u
I'm actually genuinely confused. Dear @pitchfork : Where are you? Why are you not covering actual disabled musicians? Dear @NPR you're not even transcribing all your content so like watch out for that future lawsuit. Meantime: why are you not covering disabled musicians?
Dear Cyborgs, Yes. We already know about @GaelynnLea Yes, she is f*cking fantastic. But we need to stop with this "one and done" mentality. I bet even Gaelynn would agree with me on this? We don't need "just the one" disabled musician. We are 100s of dis musicians and we rock.
If you're like "wait who is Gaelynn Lee?" You are a tryborg. Look her up. I'm not into service for tryborgs. It's like the most boring kink in the world to me.
Next up: Ruth Patterson. Thanks to @GaelynnLea
for intro-ing me to Ruth Patterson when they did that festival of Disabled and Deaf Musicians. Yes, there's been an entire festival. Do you think @nytimesmusic
covered it? Haaaaa. Like they even knew about it.
Now who is Ruth Patterson? She is a goddess. She was/is in a band called Holy Moly & The Crackers. So she put out this one song in a pop version and then she put the song out again in an emo version. You decide which version you prefer. Here's the pop:
Go ahead and dance. Dance to this song by Ruth Patterson. Dance in your chair. Dance in your bed. Dance from the floor. Dance with your pinkie. Dance with your eyes. Dance however you can. You are beautiful, cyborgs. You are making some fucking beautiful music. Get your pop on.
I feel like I'm about to go Cyborg Preacher but why not. We are dancing in the faces of nondisabled culture makers who think the biggest story is Sia. That is not the story. The story is all these disabled musicians and our incredible, vanguard, futuristic art. @VICE
Now are you ready to get emo with disabled musician Ruth Patterson? It's the same song. But she takes it from The Cure, The Police, The B-52s, and she turns it into Cat Power, Sinead O'Connor, Moldy Peaches. Yeah. Except it's entirely her own. Are you ready.
Okay. Here's the same song. "All I Got Is You." Be prepared to get emo. I'm not even that soft (oh you can tell) and this song makes me soooooo ugh soft and earnest.
The only reason I'm even doing this thread is b/c I was talking to @karriehiggins & @GaetaAmy like disabled musicians are rad af what is up w/ the media not getting it? btw follow Karrie & Amy. ok cool you already do. I'm taking crip break be back w/ more dis music
I'm still on crip break. Cy gotta eat. But there are very many more disabled musicians. DM me with your friends band but only if your friend is disabled AF and OPEN ABOUT IT. None of this "well she is but she doesn't say anything about ittttt"
https://twitter.com/gwatsky/status/1235989512641105923 Thx to @StevenVerdile for this disabled musician. He's new to me. Love it.
Obviously, I'm thinking of Leroy Moore. He's Krip Hop Nation. "There's no books around race, poverty and disability. Growing up in the 70s, I didn't see myself."
"I'm the Black Kripple. I'm too radical. You think I'm too radical. I'm the Black Kripple." #LeroyMoore
Here's track from Keith Jones @dasoultoucha and Leroy Moore "Black Disabled Boyz." Website is accessible -- B/C OF COURSE IT IS -- so scroll down for the track. https://kriphopnation.com/press-release-new-single-the-story-not-told-black-disabled-boyz/ Get @Trevornoah on this
BTW I AM NOT COMPREHENSIVE. I'm white AF, my music choices reflect that mostly, I don't know who's doing disabled Latinx music, I don't know who's doing disabled gospel music either. So don't act like I think I'm the expert over here. I'm not. Educate me.
I really love this song while I simultaneously recognize it as, perhaps, white-disabled-girl-problems. "Everyone has gone to a party. And I didn't want to go. I just want to stay in my bedroom. I'm anti-social and lazy I know."
