okay, thread on how obsessed sia is with maddie ziegler and how their relationship is incredibly toxic
to start, i'm sure most people know but maddie gained recognition on dance moms, which was another incredibly abusive environment. from the age of 4 she's been around abusive adults who don't care about her well-being, just what she can do for them.
sia learned of her from dance moms, and has been working with her since age 11. sia is maddie's godmother and they've both said that maddie is like her daughter
sia has said she always wants to work with maddie and maddie is her muse, and maddie has said several times that sia is one of her best friends, which is not great considering maddie was a teenager and sia was in her 30s and 40s
she makes decisions for maddie's career, on what projects she should and shouldn't do saying a movie wasn't "good enough for her" which considering the music movie is ridiculous but lmao i'll get to that soon
maddie also spends a lot of time with sia, saying she spent more time with her than her own family when she was just 15(!)
sia does projects just so that she can keep maddie with her under the guise of keeping maddie "safe"
i don't have a source, but i've read via dance moms reddit that melissa has said maddie and sia would sleep in the same bed together when maddie was a child so take that as you will
okay, and now the new "music" movie that i'm sure y'all have heard about it. if you haven't, it's a new movie where sia cast maddie, who is not autistic, as a nonverbal autistic teen.
maddie has been involved with the project since she was i think 13. i'm not going to try and defend her because that's not my place but here is some more info on maddie's involvement

maddie was crying because of this, and sia, the adult who was supposed to protect her, instead tells her and reassures her that what she is doing is fine, even though it obviously was not and everything about this movie is horrible and offensive.
but no, sia insisted on using maddie, even though maddie herself didn't want to do it.
