Okay, now that I’m calmer, what were my issues with the finale exactly? Because on paper it could have looked good. There was a happy ending for all our main characters and many others. Cas got out of the Empty and helped make Heaven better. 1/15
Dean died, yes, but I always figured someone would have to die in the finale, it is SupernaturaI after all. And he went to an improved Heaven, a free one. The brothers separated, like I wanted to see, & Sam got to live a life & have a son. And in the end also went to Heaven. 2/15
So my issues?
1. No Misha. Misha should have been in the finale. And I want to know why he wasn’t.
2. The Cas erasure. Even if Misha couldn’t be there, Cas could still have had a much bigger presence. A voiceover. Green screen. More dialogue about him. 3/15

Dean showing any emotion or saying anything about Cas’ earth-shattering declaration and feelings or about his return.
3. THE WINCESTINESS OF IT ALL. I expected emotional brother scenes, but not to the point where literally half the tv audience thinks they’re about to kiss!

4. The Eileen erasure. Even if budgets were tight and they didn’t want to pay to use her face in a photograph, again her presence could have been shown in other ways. A mention of her name. Her name on a phone screen. Sam signing to Blurry Woman. Sam and his son signing. 5/15
Imo they deliberately chose to completely obliterate Eileen so she wouldn’t be in the way of Wincest. And because women are Just Not Important.
5. The callous, OOC versions of Sam and Dean who didn’t seem to care about anyone but each other. That’s not who they are. 6/15

That’s not who Cas told Dean he is, and that’s certainly not who I wanted to see in the finale. “Cas is dead and who cares if Eileen or Charlie or Donna or anyone else made it back, let’s play around with pie!”
6. The weird MOTW case with vampire mimes?? What the hell? 7/15

That was so lame, did they intentionally go for the lamest possible thing? When they could have embarked on a rescue mission to the Empty instead and done something epic. God above.
7. The bad execution. The 38373 montages that someone had put together half asleep. 8/15

The lack of heart. I’ve come to expect shoddy and campy workmanship from Singer unfortunately, and covid definitely made things difficult, but I was hoping everyone would make an extra effort for the SERIES FINALE. 9/15
8. How the token defeat of brodependency really only reinforced the brodependency (with wincest). Sam let Dean go and lived his life, yes, but in exactly the same way that Dean did after Swan Song—only because he had promised his brother, not because he really wanted to. 10/15
Sam named his son Dean ffs. I would not name my kid after my sister, no matter how much I love her. The biggest family portrait in his home was not of his family (wife and son) but of him with his dead parents and brother. Creepy. 11/15
The way it was portrayed, Sam suffered through his life, didn’t care all that much about his wife or son, and really only wanted to die so he could meet Dean again. That is sick and I feel sorry for him, and very sorry for his wife and son. 12/15
9. All the loose ends! Did Donna, Charlie, Stevie and everyone else make it back? What happened with the Empty? Is Kevin still wandering the earth as a ghost and slowly going insane? Did Cas try to break Ruby out of the Empty like he promised? 13/15
Ultimately there was just no heart in the finale. It felt empty, hollow, like so many have put it. Apart from stellar acting by Jensen and a good effort by Jared, it’s like no one involved in making it really cared. Every beat was off somehow. 14/15
I barely noticed when Carry On played, it felt like it played in the wrong place and the wrong version. The ep should have started with the Kansas version and then had the cover during Dean’s drive. Or something. Everything was just off. 15/15
