1/n Unpopular opinion: Most Indians know NOTHING about how the entertainer industry works. They see 'celebs' & 'stars' & judge the rest 95% as having the same lifestyle. Also, a recent interaction revealed, there is a LOT of frustration & envy from those who can't come to Bbay.

2/n Either they have practical issues/ have tried, failed & returned, but there is so much envy at the glam lives of stars. So when someone gets into trouble, there is much glee & feeling superior. Then, all the 'Bollywood ppl are ___!' tweets come out, lumping EVERYONE in 1 tub.

3/n No one bothers to educate themselves, no- SENSITISE themselves to the fact that it takes a minimum of 250 people to make 1 small sized film. Those ppl have families, lives. They pay taxes, take loans, get underpaid or sometimes not paid at all, but keep working.

4/n They work cos they love what they do, cos they feel pride on seeing their name scroll by in the end credits bedside the Item Number starring the Stars. They know they will get paid something for the next job, to be able to pay the rent or EMI & school fees for the kids.

5/n Mostly they work, cos they don't know how to do anything else. The pace of life here, making new friends in a new project, meeting & collaborating with old pals, the comfort & familiarity of a shoor flor/ edit room/ sound studio, that magic we each one is a part of creating.

6/n That magic that you, my dear friends, feel when you are in a dark theatre & the music builds excitement of a scene that's lit up the screen- everything larger than life. The guy with his fam in front, he is 1 of the lightboys. The lady next to you, is the hairdresser.

7/n The cheers're from the Asst director team, thrilled that no one caught the tiny flaws they're aware of, that people are enjoying their labour of love. We love making up stories & entertaining u. We're more than the leads you see on screen. We're the labourers you dont know.

8/n. Worse. We are the Labourers you don't care about. All you care about is giving importance to the Stars whose names you know, whom you were gullible enuf to believe are as heroic in real life as in made-up STORIES. You invited the disappointment you now feel, by being naive.

9/n And you still won't even realise that to create that larger than life figure it takes a small army to work behind the screen. When we take a photo on the phone, we look at the 4 sides, choose what we want to include & exclude. We add filters. Now multiply that by a LOT.

10/n That is the effort and thought that goes in, specialised depts. Trained, experienced people. But for most of you, we are ALL, EACH ONE OF US- drug addicts, party addicts, immoral people. Thank you for the love.
