I’m going to follow @RobSandIA and join in on #TwitterGoesHunting

First, I’ve spent about 15 days in the stand this year and haven’t gotten a deer, but have had lots of success.

I’ve watched the sunset and rise to serenade of what sounds like a city of coyotes.
2/
I’ve had a barred owl perch at eye level 30 yards away and stay there until I moved too fast.
3/
I’ve watched flocks of white fronted geese, likely en route from Alaska to Arkansas, fly overhead
4/
I watched a white-breasted nuthatch thrash a wooly caterpillar against bark of trees until it was stripped of all its ‘wool’. Presumably to eat it, but he didn’t share that with me as he flew off too early.
5/
I’ve made eye contact with migrating golden crowned kinglets foraging in the canopy.
6/
I’ve watched squirrels play tag and a thousand other games in the leafs. (These seem to ordinarily start just as I dose off to sleep)
7/
I’ve had a doe so close I could hear her inhaling my scent. The scent sent her and her twin fawns away in a flash a few seconds later which left my heart beating out of my chest for a few minutes
8/
I’ve seen bucks fight and chase one another. Including one really funny interaction where a young one balked at a mature one and subsequently got taught a lesson about the dominance hierarchy in the woods
9/
I’ve watched an opossum walk a few hundred yards looking for something. I couldn’t tell what.
10/
I listened to the leafs separate from their branches in a gentle breeze.
11/
I communicated with a close friend that hunts nearby almost every day about nothing more than what the deer are doing.
12/
I talked to my dad and brother and friends in other states about what I’m seeing and what I think I need to change
13/
I dreamed about hunts. I worked late hours to justify time away during daylight. I shot my bow to practice for weeks before the season.
14/
It’s been a great year. So yeah, hunting is a bit more than killing for me. 15/15
