There are few characters I can relate with as much as I did with Sodachi.
She is a very flawed and broken character. She is full of contradictions and she has been trapped in her own coping mechanism and now she can& #39;t run away from it as she always did with her other problems.
She is a very flawed and broken character. She is full of contradictions and she has been trapped in her own coping mechanism and now she can& #39;t run away from it as she always did with her other problems.
She try to save herself lying to herself and blaming others for her own unhappiness, but at the same time she is the most aware of it. She has to keep that status quo to not lose the only thing that keeps her together: her innocence.
She is afraid of moving on because she is not sure if that will bring her happiness or that in case that she gets it, she can keep it. She is more scared of losing it than surviving miserably as up to now because that will break her definitely. She can& #39;t bear more misfortune.
But at the same time as she is too frightened to move by herself, she keeps praying for someone to save her, because deep down she wants to be happy.
And that person she relied on was Araragi, who kept failing her again and again. Being this one of the reasons why she hates him.
And that person she relied on was Araragi, who kept failing her again and again. Being this one of the reasons why she hates him.
However, despite hating him because she needs an scapegoat and he has let her down before, he is the only person she is close enough to trust.
She always cut ties with the people around her and made sure to create a wall between them through debts and stating her superiority.
She always cut ties with the people around her and made sure to create a wall between them through debts and stating her superiority.
So when at the end of Sodachi Lost, Araragi keeps his promise and "finds her mother", she does her part too and the debt between them disappears. But this time, she is not running away from him or cutting ties, she is creating an opportunity to start anew.
Her arc is really painfully to witness, but the themes on it are among the most beautiful ones of the show: we have to accept our past and ourselves and continue moving forward to find our happiness no matter how tough is the journey.
