#CHANYEOL and his love for Astronomy [a thread]

We all probably know by now that one of Chanyeol's dreams when he was younger was to become an Astronaut.

He might not have succeeded with this dream, but his fascination with Astronomy still lives on.

Back in 2013, in his yearbook photo for their album, XOXO, he wrote that his dream was "Conquering space"

In 2015.05.26, Chanyeol posted this photo on Instagram with the caption:

"Taking photos of the stars with my phone camera! Actually, until kindergarten, my dream was to become an astronaut. I'll dream of docking (in the space station) tonight. Good night, everyone "

In 2018, we had an astronomy geek Chanyeol overload.

It started with him following the official instagram accounts of NASA and NASA Hubble Space Telescope (2018.10.18)

It was followed by an instagram story of him reading an Astonomy book (2018.10.18)

The book is entitled "아빠, 천체관측 떠나요!"
It's not a regular book. It was written in novel form, w/ the main character being a high school amateur astonomer named Hoseong. It describes how to observe stars as well as how to use celestial telescopes.

Few days later, he posted these photos on Instagram (2018.10.23)

He posted a video of the moon thereafter on his IG stories (2018.10.24)

We found out later on that he went to Yangpyeong to try out the telescope he bought.

He fondly told about his new hobby during their Twitter Blueroom Live Q&A for Tempo (2018.11.01)

During their Tempo showcase, he again mentioned about his new hobby and told how watching documentaries about the universe helped him sleep well. (2018.11.02)

In one of DMUMT fansigns, a fan asked Chanyeol what his favorite star is and he answered "Sirius" (2018.11.10)

Sirius is the brightest star in the sky. Its name is derived from the Greek word "Seirois" which means "glowing" or "scorching".

Studio NNG's first teaser had so many astronomical elements. At the end if the video, we could also see Chanyeol wearing a NASA jacket. (2019.10.30)

In one of his Huya lives, he again said that he wanted to become an astronaut, but his vision got worse from using the computer, so he jokingly said he had to change his dream. His favorite constellation is the Orion & said it's easy to find during autumn nights. (2020.04.07)

His photos for EXO-SC's 1Billion Views album also reflected his interest in Astronomy. He even changed his instagram profile photo to one of these photos. For the Telephone concept photos, he also wore a necklace with a little astronaut charm.

In his Press ID for EXO's Seasons Greetings 2021, he put LOEYGOTOTHESPACENOW as his email username.

Knowing how he is so into the moon, stars & constellations, he must be so thrilled if he finds out that 2 of EXO's songs made it to the NASA Moon Tunes playlist, which will be played in a 6-day voyage to the moon in 2024.
