Let’s help each other #BeatTheLockdownBlues 1. BREATHE — First you need to take care of of yourself. Pause and know this is being done to save lives and we will be ok. Stuck in a line at the grocery store...breathe. It will just take a little longer.
2. BE BUSY — Anxiety thrives in boredom. Every day make a plan to do something, especially those things you’ve been putting off. Clean under the stove. Pick up that book and finally read it. Do some push ups. Anything to exercise your mind. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
3. CREATE A SUPPORT GROUP — Create a group of friends & family. Have coffee via zoom together every morning. Maybe evening drinks. A regular games night. It’ll be something to look forward to & you’ll feel less alone while supporting each other. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
4. BREATHE. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
5. REACH OUT — If you’re feeling anxious, chances are someone you know (perhaps who you haven’t talked to in awhile) might be feeling the same way. A call from you might be just what they needed right now. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
6. GET OUTSIDE— Go for walks. Find nature. Research has proven that time spent in nature (even in a city park) reduces anxiety and stress significantly. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
7. KEEP TO A ROUTINE — Routine is a great way to tell your mind that all is ok. Get up at the same time , meals at the same time, same bedtime. Don’t skip the shower. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
7. EVERYONE DESERVES SOME SPACE — Cooped up inside together can take its toll. Understand that you and everyone else I the family needs some time away from each other. Find time and space for all in the household to have their own space and time. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
8. JOURNAL — Start a daily diary. How do you feel? What happened today? What did you do to make your day better. It will help get things off your mind and onto paper. It will also be an interesting read for you on the future to look back on this. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
9. STOCK UP ON HEALTH SNACKS — You and your family will be snacking a lot more. Having fatty snacks readily available is asking for trouble. Have a few bad snacks but go overboard on have fruits and veggies cleaned, cut and available...nuts, seeds, popcorn. #BeatTheLockdownBlues
10. BREATHE — (where have I heard this one before?) So important-when things get overwhelming, or before they do, you pause, close your eyes & count your breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. 3 minutes at a time, through the day. It works! #BeatTheLockdownBlues
