Watching the new Animaniacs reboot. Thoughts so far is that the first cartoon was really slow - got some smiles but about it. Then the Pinky and the Brain short started and the show jumped to life - the comic timing was allllll there and good god the Seth Myers roast...

It made me appreciate that for the voice actors, this really plays like they haven't been apart at all - the Warner trio and the Pinky/Brain duo still feel the same. And maybe the most 90s thing about it is hearing Frank Welker's voice all over the place.

And uh the reboot song was just amusing because WHAT THE HELL CHARMED MADE IT IN HERE

Onto episode two and this man's crotch region is horrifying... the hair crawling out of his skirt is... ahhhhhghghghghghghg

oh god this is scarier

It's really weird hearing the theme song of the new version where they've had to awkwardly alter the verses that originally included the various characters that used to be the other backing segments on this show.

Isn't it a felony to acknowledge the existence of Loonatics Unleashed?

I'd like call out that the animation quality of the show overall is actually REALLY good. It has a fluidness to it that I think has been lost in the post-ToonBoom era, and it might be because they're trying to make it look more like a 90s show than a modern show.

I just realized that they wrote an episode themed around the Olympics in 2018 because obviously nobody could have predicted that a global pandemic would cancel the Olympics two years later. And that's uh... kinda a bummer...

Three episodes in and they finally did a joke about the countries of the world song

The last cartoon in this segment was about two minutes long and left me in hysterics. I will not ruin it.

Okay, picking up at episode 4. Just realized that Dr. Scratchnsniff is in the opening but not the show so far. A lot of the characters here are though so I hope that means he'll come back, I miss the interplay between the Warners and their "authority figure".
