I asked what it even means to speak like a white person and suggested this really means being a white person who speaks. Carlson’s supposed concern about Alcindor’s supposed inability to use correct grammar is an interesting contrast to his support for Trump who engages in a range of grammatical practices that would not only be perceived as incorrect but criminal if uttered by a Black person.

When people say “I know the world is unfair but we have to teach POC how to speak like white people” what they are really saying is “I know the world is unfair but we have to teach POC how to be a white person who speaks” which is, of course, impossible.
