[ STUDYTWT FAQs: an (updated) thread ]
STUDYTWT EXISTS?????
yes.
WHAT IS STUDYTWT?
tl;dr it's a community where you can get /fast/ answers to questions, advice from a wide range of students from different grade levels and countries, give help, and surround yourself with motivating/supportive/inspiring people!
WHY TWITTER?
with twitter you can reap the benefits of a fast response system! esp in the time of online classes where your classmates and teachers may not always be readily available, it could be very useful to reach out online for advice, questions, and resources!
+ you can meet many different users worldwide of different strengths and experiences! for example, some users may be in a school/major/country you're interested in, or some users may be struggling/have struggled with similar experiences as you and could offer advice!
BUT I HAVE NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE!
you don’t have to have anything to “contribute” to join! everybody’s here for their own reasons: to find review resources, to ask for college/school advice, to be inspired by other users - and a community cant be helpful without people to help!
DO I HAVE TO BE SMART/PRODUCTIVE TO USE STUDYTWT?
not at all! something that studytwt wants to stress is that your study experience is not always going to be easy - but that doesn't mean you need to be alone. many studytwt users are coping with mental health problems
or juggling life problems alongside their work. studying and school is in no way easy, but when things get hard we can do it together. studytwt wants to be a community that promotes healthy study habits and mental well being too. you never need to be *the* best - just *your* best
BUT MY NOTES ARE UGLY/I DONT HAVE FANCY STATIONERY
studytwt is not solely focused on the aesthetics! another great thing about twitter is that it's not photo/video centered, so there's no pressure to maintain an "aesthetic" on your profile. not everyone even posts photos!
but another nice thing about that is that on studytwt you will also see what isn't "picture perfect" about studying. a lot of students will tweet about their struggles, failures, but can be met with support, advice and empathy from the community, so studytwt strives to support
the realistic nature of studying - questions, confusion, hardships and all - the things that go on off-camera. of course, if you find pretty notes and stationery motivating for you, by all means, share with us! it's all about what works for *you*
SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS POST?
it depends! everyone posts their own things! some make threads about their study tips, others post notes or to-do lists, others tweet looking for advice and help with homework, and, of course, students bond over mutual suffering :')
HOW CAN I FIND THE HELP I NEED?/HOW CAN I GET MY POSTS SEEN?
here's a thread of all the hashtags that we use on studytwt! please be mindful to use the most suitable hashtag if you choose to tag your posts! https://twitter.com/studytwthub/status/1305403850405236736?s=20
WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE A HASHTAG SYSTEM?
this thread explains why we use a tag system! tl;dr, the tag system promotes accessibility - you can get your posts seen more easily by non-moots and get a wider range of answers https://twitter.com/aikokoroh/status/1315828871871094784?s=20
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
absolutely not! we have users all the way from middle school to postgraduates! of course, users should always be mindful and respectful of other users' boundaries.
IS IT EFFECTIVE?
studytwt is still a new community, but it all depends on how you use it! but people ARE going around answering questions, threads are being made, resources being shared, it's all a matter of if you actively participate! every study group is what you make of it!
DO I NEED TO MAKE A SEPARATE ACCOUNT?
it's absolutely not a requirement! you're free to post a studytwt intro on your existing account as well! just be mindful that some users are here to stay motivated, and so they may not follow back non-studytwt accs to avoid distractions!
HOW DO I JOIN?
whenever you're ready just post to the #studytwt tag with an introduction and moots will find you! you can include basic info, subjects you can help with, subjects you need help with, + anything else you want to include!
you can check the account @studytwtwelcome for inspo for your introduction. they rt all new member introduction posts so they're seen by the wider community and gain traction. also check their page if you want to start looking for people to follow!
we hope to see you on studytwt! here's another thread by @studytwthub that's another quick beginners guide to studytwt! https://twitter.com/studytwthub/status/1305731282303811584?s=20
