The recently published Oxford vaccine trial has a cohort that is 90-100% white in every age group. This is a fundamental, biased, and to put it bluntly, outright racist oversight. This is thoughtless, lazy recruiting. (2/5)

This trial was run during one of the biggest global anti-racism efforts in history & is one of the most important vaccines to be created in a long time... FOR A VIRUS THAT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO AFFECT POC WORSE. Whether it's for biological or societal reasons it doesn't matter. (3/5)

I am not denying that it is significantly easier to recruit white participants. But to have a couple of token POC and think this is good enough is shocking. There is no excuse for this. It is shameful. (4/5)

Historically, medical research has been extremely whitewashed. I guess that's just what happens in a primarily white industry. But guess what? That's not good enough. This trial is just another example showing that things do not seem to be changing. We MUST do better. (5/5)
