When I see voice actors asking for validation I& #39;m just reminded of the fact that y& #39;all really seek validation from casting directors every day instead of just validating yourself as a competent actor.
Like I was musing on this earlier with some friends. One asked me if I felt the fields of singing and acting were different and here is what I& #39;ll say
While both seek validation, I& #39;d say that voice actors seek it even more than vocalists. If you& #39;re a singer you enjoy it, but you don& #39;t need a casting director to acknowledge you to put a cover online to share around and be viewed.
I& #39;ve never once felt invalidated in my skill because someone has done something better than me. Jealous? Maybe, but never invalidated. I work on my own skill, I& #39;m proud of the progress I make and that should be enough.
But you voice actors, you jump in, sometimes with zero experience in acting, and with that you feel like there& #39;s nothing to validate your skill. You don& #39;t have titles to your name, you don& #39;t have games, all you have are reels.
All singers have are recordings and their voice. Let your reel and your abilities validate you, not how many titles you have. I have so many fucking friends with AMAZING ranges, INCREDIBLE ABILITY TO EMOTE-
BUT THEY INVALIDATE THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY WEREN& #39;T CAST IN A F U C K I N G VISUAL NOVEL LIKE TAKE A SECOND TO THINK ABOUT THAT. PLEASE...JUST ENJOY YOURSELF AND KEEP GOING AT IT PLEASE I BEG YOU JUST HAVE F U N
