I believe ROGD, at least as Littman and Shrier wrote about it, doesn't capture the full picture of what is going on with female adolescent transition. I've talked about all these points before but here it is concisely. The four horsemen of the trans trend
1/7
1. Social contagion. They've always spread easier in girls than boys, and when we wake up from this, girls will be the hardest hit. GD/transition is the new cutting or eating disorder. Point one is basically the entire ROGD theory. The social pull is even stronger though.

2. Loneliness. Being "trans" brings love, attention & support from strangers who want to make up for any mistreatment you could be exposed to. Transition comes with a ready made support group/community. Like church, but better. But also a lot like a religion.

3. Religisity. The trans religion will tell you being trans isn't even a medical issue to begin with, it is an identity. An identity that is valid and must be affirmed by healthcare providers - by way of hormones and surgery. Thus lying about having GD is morally justified.
4/7
4. Sociopolitical forces. A dangerous fad glorified into a civil rights issue. Being trans is not at all like being gay. But equating the two has essentially given the prescription pad and the surgeon's knife to activists instead of actually qualified doctors and therapists.

To add, GD is a real condition and transition is effective treatment. Insurance providers should cover that treatment when prescribed.
I also believe in bodily autonomy and what a stable-minded adult wants to do with their own body is their choice, but on their own dime.

Whats happening now is different than traditional GD & sometime within the next 5 years (I suspect) the western world will wake up from this & the fallout will be catastrophic. I keep having these conversations because I want hasten the waking up to reduce the fallout.
