broken record here but I really don’t think it’s considered enough that trump *in office* is the glue that’s held so much of the wildly disparate MAGA media grift ecosystem together and removing him from office is catastrophic to their ability to function for a common cause

the whole thing has extremely high potential to balkanize almost overnight as every faction desperately scrambles to claw onto whatever table scraps trump leaves behind for them, as he sits back & enjoys the knifefighting to stay in his good graces

it is also worth considering that so many of these factions are simply not actually invested in classical political outcomes without trump in office. “make sure the GOP holds the senate in GA” is not a thing lunatics and white nationalists actually have real vested interests in

they cared about GOP power and behaved as if they had classical political interests because it helped trump in power. take trump out of power and these people simply aren’t incentivized to behave like a traditional political base that gives a shit about which party wins

there is in fact a bloc that sees more potential for their own cause in the GOP *losing* power, as it’s an easier oppositional stance for their own personal grievance interests

just seems that prevailing wisdom is trump will rally his base as some sort of standard party-invested kingmaker and the GOP MAGA media will be able to utilize him as a focused energy weapon to their ends and I just don’t think that’s the right prediction at all

to be clear, *trump* can keep his coalition together, but that means trump takes all the money. the media barnacles who’ve been able to grift their way to the top of the heap with him in office will suddenly find themselves having to slit throats to keep even an inch of turf
