FYI: I had a long discussion with my friend who is in K ent. I brought up several topics intl fans have and why K ent industry is not listening. Since I know intl fans and I see what Korean people do not, I told him of their grievances. What he told me based on his experience.

Promoting, catering and understanding intl fans:Â
1. They have no idea black people are huge part of kpop fanbase.(he was shocked to hear it)
2. Most K ent employees are not the brightestÂ
3. They tend to cater to Korea, Japan. Think Intl audience is bonus, so no effort needed-

I told him to take all things into consideration when opening his agency. Work with intl staff & learn abt cultures. Quick feedback to intl fans in multiple languages. Listen to intl fans. I told him, I would love to see an openly gay idol member in a boy group to normalize it.-
There are many gay idols & celebs who are afraid to comeout due to fear of getting blacklisted and ruining their careers. I said, someone has to make the 1st move. It will be hard but he could change the industry. It’s about time Korea became open minded. -
As an agency, openly support and protect the gay member. If the agency stands by the member, I think he would earn respect. He replied, it’s complicated:Â
1. TV networks might not put them onÂ
2. Kfans may not accept
I told him to trust I fans as they will support. Won’t you?

The reason I’m helping him is bc I don’t want him repeating the same mistake like others. I drilled in on the importance of I fans if he wanted idols to achieve intl fame. These are the suggestions I gave him. Hopefully he will take it seriously bc I truly want him to succeed.
