THREAD: Best #NBA Scorers of all time.

Who were the most effective, impactful bucket-getters? Eras accounted for.

Honorable mentions: Allen Iverson, Elgin Baylor, Bernard King, George Gervin, Oscar Robertson, Adrian Dantley, Damian Lillard, Jerry West, Pete Maravich
Top honorable mention: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Not the best scoring center at his peak. Not the most versatile or dominant force we’ve ever seen. But pretty darn close. The skyhook, along with all his interior work, puts him in elite company.
10. Shaquille O’Neal

Everyone remembers his overwhelming power and dominant drop-step dunks. But Shaq was also light on his feet when he needed to be, and had some touch within 10 feet. Unguardable in his prime.
9. Larry Bird

Feathery touch from every spot on the floor. A 3-point savant before his time. Scored 40-plus LEFT HANDED in one game. Impossible to cool off when he was cooking.
8. Carmelo Anthony

At his peak, such a tough cover. Nimble footwork while slashing, yet strong as an ox. Elite body control. Pristine shooting mechanics from all ranges. Clutch.
7. James Harden

Not a fan of his. Not 100% sure how he’d fare if the NBA allowed defenders to do more. But he’d probably figure something out. Props to him for taking care of business as a scorer in this era.
6. Stephen Curry

Not the absolute most effective or dominant scorer ever, thanks to his size. But he is the most skilled scoring weapon I have ever seen. If he had better physical tools, he’d be the best scorer ever.
5. LeBron James

A scoring wizard when his jumper is on. Because he can do nearly everything else. Best slasher of all time. A problem in the post. And his mid-range game is impressive at its peak. Unprecedented combination of size & skill.
4. Closest thing to MJ we’ll ever see. Incredible blend of athleticism and finesse early in his career, and then his footwork carried him later on. Not as good of a ball-handler as Jordan, but there’s no shame in that.
3. Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt wouldn’t struggle against today’s players as much as some say he would. But he’d have to figure out FTs. An unreal physical specimen who could fill it up in the post. He’d score 25-30 ppg today.
2. Kevin Durant

Amazing handler, creator, and shot-maker for his size. Knows how to leverage his length to score even when opponents are in good position. Best scorer of his era, and that’s saying something.
1. Michael Jordan

Weaved through traffic as a handler, rose over everyone, changed shot angles MULTIPLE times per leap. Impossible to stay in front of while driving, & impossible to check w/ back to the basket. LBJ may take his overall goat crown, but MJ remains ultimate scorer
