Shizuku Osaka Analysis Thread https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💧" title="Tröpfchen" aria-label="Emoji: Tröpfchen">

RTs are appreciated AND encouraged.
Lot’s of people see Shizuku as a one-dimensional character with not much too her, this is a reasonable thought but there is more to Shizuku than that is shown in the anime and the SIFAS story.
Think of this as a rebuttal to people who call her boring, but while this is an informative thread I’m not saying your opinion HAS to change upon reading this thread. (Although that would be nice- the more Shizuku fans the merrier)
NOTE: This is written prior to Shizuku’s focus episode. Most likely that episode will include things that aren’t included in the thread itself- don’t expect stuff from her anime episode to be in here. However I might make an analysis on her focus episode too.
We know that Shizuku debuted in Love Live SIF as a N card girl who attended Seiran High School, upon being the top 3 in a Love Live N girl popularity poll she earned her place in the new Love Live group- Nijigasaki’s High School Club.
Her most defining trait is that she is an actress who is very devoted to her acting but also juggles being a school idol at the same time. Like Setsuna, Shizuku is very passionate about what she loves. Passion, however, can be expressed through different languages.
Contrary to Setsuna who shows her passion with loud, energetic music- Shizuku’s songs contain theatrical elements within them to make you feel like you’re in a musical, combining her two passions into one. Theatre and acting is everything to her, it’s her obsession.
Although Acting has given so much for Shizuku to love, it’s also given her a huge problem with herself. This struggle is greatly expressed in her second solo song, Audrey. We learn that she barely has a sense of self, she can only adjust herself into the role of someone else.
She’s so used to putting herself into someone else’s shoes through her performances that she doesn’t understand what “being herself” is.
For this analysis we’ll interpet Audrey as an idealized version of herself. She wants to be a perfect actress, even a perfect school idol- in order to do this she feels she shouldn’t display her weaknesses otherwise they’ll get in the way of her desires.
To prove her self-worth she needs to devote herself to this deep passion of hers, but she doesn’t know if she’s doing it 100% right.
This is where her bond story ties into her character, her finding out she’s not as popular of a school idol as the rest of her friends gives her this imposter syndrome because she feels that the reason for her unpopularity is that she isn’t trying hard enough or isn’t good enough
But she’s determined to change that. This is why Shizuku joins the School Idol Clique in Chapter 20, because she’s insecure about herself as a school idol and wants that change very badly.
Shizuku wants to figure out who she is as a person, but self-discovery doesn’t come with an instruction manual. She feels the most she can do is hope that it will come to her soon, what she is outside of an actress.
She’s fighting two battles at once, trying to find out her true self while also trying to become her ideal self which is pretty contradictory. Your idealized version of yourself is who you WANT to be, but isn’t necessarily who you actually are as a person.
Shizuku will have to learn that eventually on her road to self-discovery. As amazing of an actress Shizuku is, she still doubts her skills and wants to be as perfect as possible when it comes to her passions.
In her bond story we can see how entranced she is with acting, how she feels the world& #39;s a stage and because everyone is an actor you can do anything. You can see how she’s enchanted by all the aspects of theatre.
She has a very mature and composed front, but her love for acting breaks that and she nerds out when talking about acting.
She keeps things to herself to not make other people worry about her, which is most likely why we were only able to see the darker side of Shizuku via her solo song.
She’s always having her head in the clouds from the excitement of theatre, but she knows when it’s time to bring herself back down to earth- especially in serious situations. Shizuku has some interests tied into acting.
- she says she loves literature and a story and even chooses to write stories to her fanclub. She’s a very creative and imaginative person.
That’s a wrap! I hope this helped present Shizuku to you in a different light than what little we see in SIFAS. Hopefully someday, Shizuku can overcome these struggles and find who she really is. With that, I hope we can all watch Shizuku’s episode tomorrow with an open mind.
